How We Rank Betting Sites

Our methodology. Learn how and why we choose to display each betting site we list.

Being betting enthusiasts ourselves, we know there is no single best betting site. We understand that each player may be looking for something different from the next - or even from their own previous choices. Which begs the question: how do we rate bookmakers?

Factors by which we rank betting sites

Rather than assigning arbitrary scores to sites, we rely on factual information and other players' experiences. In general, we use two types of list:

Latest betting sites

Our top latest betting sites list contains the best of the newest bookmakers. This doesn't mean that just because brand A launched later than brand B that they will be shown in that order; we display them based on how we've evaluated them, how our users have experienced them, and their current offers, which are constantly changing. We do provide a flat list of betting sites by new to old which is bound to the site's online launch date alone.

The best betting sites

Around the site, we may display various lists with the word best. It may be in a context which provides us a clear talking point, for example, The Best Betting Sites for Football. In other cases, like on the home page, we may order sites by "Best" or "Featured". Here's how those sites are chosen considering the fact that we don't hand out random or personal-opinion ratings.

1Safety and Security

Player safety is paramount

First and foremost: the betting site must be fully licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, ensuring they adhere to strict laws and regulations designed to protect players, their money, and their data. We continuously monitor the UKGC database to ensure every site we list is licensed, and we display a link to that license for you to verify.

Every site we list is continuously checked for compliance and accountability under UK law.

2Player Experiences

Real user ratings and reviews

We show each brand's overall user rating and often their associated reviews. The ratings and reviews have been left by real bettors, next to which we cite their name and the date of review. The combined reviews of like-minded people adds value to our decision making abilities.

We show ratings and reviews left by other bettors like you.

3Current Offers

Welcome offers change frequently

If a betting site is promoting a strong welcome offer (or conversely just dropped one) we may adjust its position in our lists accordingly. Although many factors contribute to a bookmaker's overall experience, there are valid reasons why the free bet or bonus is a metric worth considering.

Welcome offers must be fair and transparent to be featured on our website.

4Fast Banking

Getting money in and out of your account

Betting sites which support fast withdrawals score highly in players' minds. And those which support more niche payment methods can often be just what you need at the time.

Hassle-free transactions, especially withdrawals, are high-priority.

5Betting Features

You need a site which does suits your style

There is no need to award scores for each betting feature, since different players assign different value to each one. Instead, we clearly list each feature - like Bet Builder, Cash Out, In-play, Early Payout, Best Odds Guaranteed - in a scannable easy-to-digest line. You can also find brands which support your desired tool using search.

Betting features are displayed rather than scored.

6Customer Support

Can you get help when you need it?

Bookmakers who look after their customers are preferred. We like to hear about players getting queries resolved quickly and efficiently. When customer support leaves you hanging - whether that's on the site or publicly on social media - it can leave a bad taste. On the other hand, support which is present, active, and willing, tend to help make people feel safe, even those which haven't had to use it yet; the feeling that it's there if needed is key.

Knowing that the site provides effective support builds trust.
