Manchester City and Everton will both look to build on their opening day wins when they meet at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League's Monday Night Football.
Everton started the season with a 1-0 win at home to Stoke City, with Wayne Rooney heading home the winner on his return to Goodison Park. Manchester City, meanwhile, overcame a stubborn Brighton side to take a deserved 2-0 win from the Amex.
Both Man City and Everton have been amongst the league's biggest spenders during the current transfer window and Everton could give a debut to their latest edition, Gylfi Sigurdsson on Monday.
Sigurdsson had been courted by Everton all summer and finally completed a £45m switch from Swansea City last week. The Toffees hope the Icelandic international will slot comfortably into their starting eleven at the start of a tough run of fixtures.
After Monday's trip to the Etihad, Everton travel to Croatia on Thursday to take on Hajduk Split in the Europa League before visiting champions, Chelsea on Sunday. Ahead of the three tough away fixtures, Everton manager, Ronald Koeman, said "We know in seven days we play three away games, difficult ones, which starts on Monday with City. But okay, it is a nice challenge. They [City] are strong, but we like to be strong and are fully confident we will go there, play and do the maximum to get a good result there."
Manchester City are unbeaten in their last seven home Premier League games against Everton but will be reminded what happened the last time the two sides met. Title-chasing City traveled across the M62 in January and were humiliated, losing 4-0, all-but-ending their hopes of winning the title.
